THE ROLE

The Head of Marketplace will play a key role the digital commerce team. She/he will be responsible for driving the partnership with the existing Digital Marketplaces (Farfetch, Zalando among others), development new business and ensure the efficient execution of onboarding of the new ones.


This person will report directly to the Global Head of digital commerce and will be part of the Digital Commerce team based in Amsterdam.


We are looking for an experienced eCommerce expert with a passion for Marketplaces and Pure Players who can think strategically and with a hands-on approach. This is a critical high visibility role, the ideal candidate is someone able to cross-functionally collaborate across the organization with stakeholders on the wholesale, product, marketing, supply chain, retail and e-commerce teams as well as external account management teams.

Requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Consolidate and evolve the company Marketplace strategy: be the #1 expert for marketplaces within the company and further develop an in-depth understanding of how KARL LAGERFELD brand should leverage the Marketplace business as part of the overall digital approach
  • Help optimizing business and lead the Marketplace go-to-market strategy: Bring and further develop an in-depth understanding of how brands leverage marketplaces as part of their go-to-market strategy and build winning commercial frameworks and scalable operating models
  • Channel Management: Be the marketplace channel champion. Provide punctual updates including forecast, business estimations and making business critical decisions based on data and insights coming from the channel.
  • Marketplace Operations: Direct manager of the Marketplace Operation Manager and responsible for all aspects of marketplace operations.
  • Account Management: act as a senior leader with the different marketplace teams. Make sure that Brand commercial priorities are clear, and that KARL LAGERFELD brand strategy is well executed in each and every partnership signed.
  • P&L: Be responsible for the Marketplace P&Ls making sure the channel will support the overall company growth in a sustainable and profitable way
  • New Business: Be the first point of contact for any additional Marketplace opportunity and be able to internally assess the feasibility of the project based on the company priorities, set up and resources.
  • Manage relationships with digital agencies and external third parties in the marketplace world.
  • Creating, revising, improving and effecting current and new workflows that comply with the channel’s business process rules. Streamline the transaction cycle without compromising the customer experience.
  • Owns the customer experience for marketplace conversions
  • Digital Ambassador: Be a digital ambassador within the company. Be always aware of the newest digital opportunities and inform/share with the rest of the teams


THE PROFILE:

  • 3 – 5+ years of e-commerce experience
  • Experience in Zalando, Farfetch, Amazon and Tradebyte administrative tools
  • Experience with e-commerce marketing and digital sales drivers with marketplaces
  • Demonstrated understanding of web technologies, analytics, reporting and CMS systems
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and remotely as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and initiative
  • Experience in fashion a plus
  • Strong business acumen
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
